We’re getting ready to go down to Rocky Point this Sunday with our four kids (ages 5 to 11). We’d like to go fishing, but I’m leary of doing it without a recommendation. Did you like the outfit you guys used? If so, who was it?
Hey Brian,
You are going to have an awesome time down at Rocky Point! Fishing… my brother-in-law actually setup our fishing trip. I guess he just drove down to the “dock” (beach), asked around, and randomly chose a boat that offered the service. We paid $300 for the trip/boat (for 8 people…we actually had 9 because of an extra nephew that came along). We could stayed out to fish for longer, except that one of my nephews and his dad (a doctor) got a bit sea sick (with vomiting over the side), and needed us to return in. Otherwise, we could have continued for another couple of hours.
As soon as you drive onto that beach/dock area, a ton of people will offer their boating/fishing services to you, so I guess you could just go there yourself and find someone who will do that for you. FYI, we had to put down a $100 deposit when we setup our fishing time.
Also, we bought tacos from a random carside vendor on the beach to bring onto the boat. By the end of our trip, we STILL had 10 tacos. With the motion of the boat, no one really felt that hungry. Be sure to eat a very LIGHT breakfast–it will help you not get too sea sick. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for the informative reply. It really helped to paint a picture of what I can expect. Great tips about the food/eating too. Fishing sounds like it can be a lot of fun if you follow a few guidelines. Thanks again!
